Before Killa Cam was making a mark in the booth he was putting in work as one of the elite high school basketball stars in New York City.  Anyone that knows NYC basketball knows about the Gauchos squad in the AAU league, which was where Cam got most of his exposure on the court.  Even though his b-ball career ended, his infatuation with sports continued, inspiring the concept behind his second solo album S.D.E. (Sports, Drugs, and Entertainment).  The title track of that album is my favorite Cam’ron track of all time.  It gives you an inside look into Cam’s teenage years, his struggle, and his transition from a basketball player to a rapper.

For those that know me personally, know that I have two older sisters and one brother (kind of).  Kyl “Killa” Jones lived with my family through high school, and in the meantime was making history in the basketball world.  Only those that saw him play really know how dominant he was.  These memories of Kyl on the court were brought back to life last week when The Varsity Insider named their High School Players of the Decade (by class).

Kyl is my brother and best friend, and I’m proud of him for much more than basketball.  He has always and will always be a huge part of me and my family’s lives.  Love you kid… Congratulations.

We did it.  The New York Yankees are back where they belong.  I will leave the in-depth analysis to the sports blogs … but I will say it feels damn good to be a Yankee fan.  Yankee fitted caps on!  Wear them with pride.

Now on to one of the best celebrations New York City has to offer … a Yankee parade.  Who’s rolling?
