You Can Make It If You Try (Hidden Track)

Yvonne

Not sure how many of you guys have noticed, but there is a brief hidden track at the end of Live From New York.  Unlike the first 70 minutes of the mixtape, this song is not hip hop, not released between 1994-2001, and not a New York artist.  In fact, its a 60′s soul song by an original southern diva, Yvonne Fair.  I came across “You Can Make It If You Try” about a year ago on the record pictured above.  This song was in heavy, heavy rotation for an absurd amount of time, yet it never lost its effect.

Before the music drops, Yvonne transforms words of inspiration into something you can actually feel. Once it gets underway, there aren’t too many lyrics in the song, but a bunch of soulful “You Can Make It” riffs are chilling enough to transform the non-believers.  If you’re not buying into what the title of the song says, give her a chance to change your mind in these 2 and a half minutes.  Don’t give up.
