“Hey Mama” is one of those special dedication records, that almost sounds as if it was made in honor of a lost loved one. What makes it even more special, is that it was made while Kanye’s mom was still alive. With the use of a Donal Leace sample, Yeezy put together a great song with an even greater message. Donda West was able to enjoy the record for the last two years of her life, and even got to sing along to it on stage with her son on VH1′s Storytellers. In many cases, I feel like deserving people are not honored enough during their lifetime, only after they have passed. Don’t hold back from letting people know how much they mean to you, especially your mother.
My mom is one of the most important people in my life, and always will be. My girlfriends can never stack up to all the amazing qualities my mom has, maybe thats why I never keep them around for too long. She is a beautiful and intelligent woman, that always manages to keep her cool, even with a son that has chosen chasing dreams over the “safe” route. I hope she knows that I dream big not just for me, but for her too … and the rest of my amazing family. What more motivation would one need? I also have to mention Jeanne and Jill Carney, Linda Dillon, Kelly O’Hagan, Lisa Golden, and all the other mothers that have influenced my life in a positive way. Happy Mother’s Day.
