Long car rides are the best times to really give an album a thorough and uninterrupted listen. While coming back from my sister’s wedding in Massachusetts, I was introduced to a band that I had never heard, or heard of (thanks Amanda). The Clarence Greenwood Recordings by Citizen Cope was immediately something I liked, and by the second time through I was singing along to the hooks as if I had been bumping the album for years.
The person who’s CD it was unfortunately never saw it again (sorry Amanda) and it went directly from her cars’ system to mine, where it would stay. In a few months time every song occupied the ‘favorite’ position, which goes to show how good this album really is. Many of the songs were very consistent with the things I was feeling and experiencing at the time, and for that reason, I could not listen to it enough. This is when music is at its most powerful. Here are a few of those songs…
